New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYSCRF) has approved a $200m (€169.2m) commitment to the Carlyle Aviation Leasing Fund, according to the pension fund.

NYSCRF has put the investment in the fund into its opportunistic absolute return strategy portfolio.

Carlyle Aviation Partners, the manager of the fund is seeking to raise $800m for the fund.

The Aviation Leasing fund, which targets Tier 1 airlines, expects gross annual returns of 15% to 17% over a three- to five-year holding period.

As previously reported Florida State Board of Administration also made a $200m commitment to the Carlyle Aviation Leasing fund.
