MPC Capital’s commercial and technical ship management arm has expanded its business with the acquisition three container vessels on behalf of an international investor.
The €5.2bn asset manager said MPC Maritime Investments has acquired the three Panamax-sized container vessels for $42m (€36.6m).
So far this year, MPC Maritime has procured a total of 9 single and multi-asset deals with an investment volume of more than $110m. Shipping assets make up around 44% of all real assets managed by the MPC Capital.
MPC Capital said the focus of the newly acquired vessels is on bigger container ships, supplemented by bulkers and one tanker.
The manager launched MPC Container Ships last year to focus on feeder container vessels.
MPC Capital said it plans to further expand its business with managed accounts in order to meet increasing investor demand for attractive maritime assets.
