Independent global asset servicing and credit management firm Mount Street has supported Helaba Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen in completing the second closing of its Infrastructure Debt Fund I, part of the German commercial bank’s HLB Private Markets platform.
Launched in 2023, HLB Private Markets provides institutional investors with exposure to senior infrastructure loans originated by Helaba, Mount Street said in a statement. The second closing includes the participation of a leading international institutional investor and builds on the fund’s initial closing in 2023, the firm added.
The fund is currently targeting a total volume of approximately €500m.
Mount Street has acted as independent portfolio manager to Infrastructure Debt Fund I since launch, overseeing investment selection, portfolio monitoring and governance, as well as supporting the fund’s fundraising strategy and the continued development of the wider HLB Private Markets platform.
“The successful second closing highlights the growing demand from institutional investors for high-quality infrastructure debt investments supported by strong origination capabilities and independent portfolio oversight,” said Erwin Hennenberg, managing director at Mount Street.
”We are proud to continue supporting HLB Private Markets as independent portfolio manager and strategic partner as the platform continues its growth trajectory.”
Infrastructure Debt Fund I provides exposure to infrastructure assets across digital infrastructure, renewable energy and transportation. The majority of projects within the current portfolio are based in Germany, alongside projects spanning Ireland, wider Europe and the Netherlands.
“The second closing is a significant achievement that demonstrates the scalability of the HLB Private Markets platform,” added Ingo Wichelhaus, co-head of business development at Mount Street.
“Since inception, Mount Street has supported the platform across structuring, fundraising and portfolio management activities. We are delighted to continue working alongside Helaba while supporting the platform’s future expansion into additional debt strategies.”
The second closing forms part of Helaba’s longer-term strategy to grow HLB Private Markets, with further debt fund strategies and institutional mandates under development, Mount Street noted.
