Velkomn, the Danish single-family rental housing platform backed by Matter Real Estate, has acquired three residential sites in Zealand to develop 132 houses expected to commence in the second half of 2025.
This latest deal increases Velkomn’s Danish portfolio to 1,143 units with a £316m gross development value.
Matter Real Estate, a European property investment firm spun out of ESO Capital, launched Velkomn in 2023. It represented Matter Real Estate’s seventh residential platform investment, expanding the London-based firm’s reach to cover the UK, Ireland, Sweden and Denmark.
Velkomn is majority-owned by Matter and led by CEO Peter Uldall Borch, with Anders Horsbøl and Søren Hampen Kristensen of 1927, a Danish housing developer, acting as joint venture partners.
Borch said: Velkomn was founded on a clear ambition – to deliver professionally managed, high-quality homes that are accessible and desirable for modern families.
“This latest expansion reflects our long-term vision and commitment to building thriving communities. These three projects are a natural extension of our strategy to meet the ever-growing demand in key commuter locations, creating value for our residents, investors, and the communities we serve.”
David Christie, CEO at Matter Real Estate, said: “This acquisition is a strong fit with Matter Real Estate’s mission to support sustainable, high-quality residential developments across Europe.
“Velkomn’s ability to consistently meet tenant demand speaks to the strength of their model and the depth of local market need. We’re proud to deepen our partnership with Velkomn as they continue to scale their impact across Denmark.”
