MetLife Investment Management has appointed Sara Queen from Mapletree Investments to lead its $32.7bn (€27.1bn) real estate equity portfolio.

Queen will succeed Mark Wilsmann, who is retiring at the end of March after more than 30 years with the company.

MetLife Investment has named Queen managing director and head of its real estate equity business, which comprises core, core-plus, build-to-core, value-add and opportunistic strategies for the firm’s institutional clients and parent MetLife’s general account.

She joined Mapletree in 2018 and was head of the Singapore headquartered firm’s North America business. Prior to Mapletree, Queen spent 11 years at Brookfield as head of asset management for the company’s US office portfolio.

Before Brookfield, she spent nine years at Clarion Partners in a variety of asset management and portfolio management roles. She began her asset management career at MetLife in 1991.
