Marc Feliciano, Americas real estate CIO at DWS, has joined Manulife Investment Management as global head of real estate for private markets.

At Manulife, Feliciano will oversee all aspects of the $19bn (€16.4bn) real estate business, including portfolio management, investments, asset management, and the integration of sustainability into both investments and operations.

Feliciano will report to recently appointed global head of real assets head Christoph Schumacher and will also be responsible for developing and implementing Manulife’s global real estate investment strategy and increasing its capabilities on behalf of clients, including Manulife’s general account.

Feliciano joins Manulife from asset manager DWS where he was the head of portfolio and asset management for the real estate Americas business since 2012.

He also served as chairman of DWS’s Americas investment committee. From September 2010 to January 2012, he served as global head of risk and performance analysis for RREEF Real Estate. Prior to joining RREEF Real Estate in 2005, Feliciano worked in the private and public real estate industries in various positions for Morgan Stanley, Heitman Real Estate Securities and Invesco Realty Advisors.

Schumacher said Feliciano’s experience in real estate portfolio strategy and ”his strong analytic approach will be essential to expanding the competencies of the global team” as they meet the demand for sustainability and return from investors.

“We will continue to build on the foundation that has been established and also look to grow our capabilities, using our global lens and diversified approach to asset and capital allocation, to continue to meet the expectations of our investors,”  Feliciano said.
