Macquarie Asset Management’s energy transition solutions fund has so far raised $1.95bn (€1.7bn), according to SEC filings.
The manager disclosed that it had received the capital commitments for the Macquarie Green Energy Transition Solutions fund which was previously known as Macquarie GIG Energy Transition Solutions.
IPE Real Assets understands that the amount raised, which was disclosed in two filings, was the first close for the vehicle expected to exceed its $2bn fundraising target.
According to sources, Macquarie Green Energy Transition Solutions received a $300m commitment from the Texas Permanent School Fund.
As previously reported, the fund is investing up to $325m in green-nitrogen fertiliser plants in the US and Latin America via Atlas Agro.
Late last year, IPE Real Assets also reported that the manager plans to invest €175m in SkyNRG to support the growth of sustainable aviation fuels.
