Macquarie Asset Management has secured a $100m (€84.9m) commitment from Teacher Retirement System of Texas for its latest infrastructure fund, which primarily targets North American core-plus and value-add mid-market assets.

The pension fund disclosed in its April summary of investment activity that it had committed the capital to Macquarie Infrastructure Partners Fund VII.

According to sources familiar with the strategy, Macquarie is seeking to raise $7bn for the fund.

The previous fund in the series, which closed in June last year, secured $6.8bn in direct commitments and an additional $1.3bn of co-investment capital.

The fund will target sectors including transportation, digital infrastructure, utilities, energy and waste.
