Canadian institutional investors were among the big winners at the first-ever online IPE Real Estate Global Conference & Awards 2020.
Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), Ivanhoé Cambridge and Oxford Properties won the silver themed awards for Investment in Asia Pacific, Investment in Europe, and Investment in North America, respectively, in the first round of awards.
CPP Investments also won the awards for Investment in Emerging Markets and Listed Strategy.
One of the judges’ comments for CPP Investments’ Asia-Pacific award said the “extensive regional allocations with strong partnering activity are yielding good results, a strategy other large scale investors should emulate”.
Jimmy Phua, managing director, head of CPP Investments real estate Asia, said: “We are truly honoured to win this investment for Asia Pacific award. This is a huge morale booster to the team especially during this trying times.”
Ivanhoé Cambridge also added the Opportunistic Strategy award, beating National Pension Service to claim the prize.
Fellow Canadian institution Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan picked up Portfolio Construction, Direct Strategy and Sustainable Strategy awards.
Nordic pension funds AP4 and PensionDanmark were handed Indirect Strategy and Alternatives Strategy awards, respectively, while Allianz Real Estate picked up the Debt Strategy award.
British Airways Pension Fund was awarded Value-added Strategy and the Italian insurer Cattolica Assicurazioni was handed Newcomer award.
Each year, IPE Real Assets works in close partnership with the world’s leading investment and asset management firms to deliver the IPE Real Estate Global Awards.
There are three levels of awards sponsorship – Platinum, Gold and Silver – with 30 categories in all. The Gold and Platinum awards will be broadcast tomorrow.
