La Caisse has won the awards for the Real Assets & Infrastructure Investor of the Year and Energy Transition at this year’s IPE Real Assets Infrastructure & Natural Capital Global Conference & Awards 2025 in Rotterdam.
The Canadian pension fund manager has won the Direct Strategy award for the second consecutive year.
According to one of the judges, “La Caisse presents the most holistic comprehensive and sophisticated approach to energy transition investment and management”, adding: “Decarbonisation and other climate targets set in 2017 were exceeded in 2024 much faster than anticipated with the growing share of renewable energy assets now representing 5% of the total portfolio and almost a third of the infrastructure assets”.
Jan Østergaard received the Outstanding Industry Contribution award, recognising a transformative career that has shaped Industriens Pension for over a quarter of a century.
Joining the firm in 1998, he built the foundation for its investment function and later spearheaded its private investments division. He pioneered private equity investments from 2000, and developed co-investments in real estate and infrastructure. He recently stepped back from his role of as head of real assets at Industriens Pension.
The Church Commissioners for England were honoured with two awards, winning Social Infrastructure and Indirect Strategy. The Environment Agency Pension Fund also received an award for Natural Capital.
The Sustainability award went to APG, while Aware Super picked up the Digital Infrastructure award. In a separate recognition, Pensioenfonds Metaal OFP was also a recipient of the Indirect Strategy award.
Launched in 2021 with just three categories, the IPE Real Assets & Infrastructure Global Awards now comprises nine specialist categories on platinum and gold levels.
The overall assets under management of those that took part was over €1.3trn, while the combined value of their real assets and/or infrastructure portfolios was around €127bn.
