Igneo Infrastructure Partners has held the final close for its latest European strategy at its €6bn hard cap, exceeding its €4bn target.

The manager said the European Diversified Infrastructure Fund IV (EDIF IV) fund, secured commitments from over 90 institutional investors across Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America.

Backers include the Virginia Retirement System, which disclosed a €125m commitment to EDIF IV in recent board documents.

EDIF IV made its debut investment in September 2026, acquiring Neumann Group, a German incinerator bottom ash recycling business.

Hamish Lea-Wilson, partner and head of Igneo Infrastructure Partners Europe, said: “Reaching the €6bn hard cap within six months reflects the strength of our investor relationships and confidence in our disciplined mid-market strategy.

“Investor demand would have supported a much larger fund, but we chose to stay in the part of the market where our team has deep experience and where active ownership can create the greatest value. The close is an important milestone, but our priority is now to invest selectively, manage assets proactively and continue to deliver for our investors.”

Carolyn Gilchrist, partner, global head of capital formation, said: “The fund attracted extensive support from existing investors while also adding new relationships across Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America.

“That combination broadens the fund’s long-term capital base and demonstrates the global relevance of Igneo’s European mid-market strategy. We are grateful to our returning and new investors for their support and look forward to partnering over the life of EDIF IV.”

EDIF IV follows the strategy’s predecessor mid-market fund, EDIF III, which closed in December 2025 after exceeding its hard cap to secure €5.3bn from 60 global institutional investors.
