Big Data Exchange (BDx), a portfolio company of I Squared Capital, has expanded to Indonesia through a $300m (€289m) joint venture with Indonesian telecom provider Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison and data centre company Lintasarta.
The partnership is described as one of the largest foreign investments in the data centre sector in Indonesia, and marks BDx’s entry into the Indonesian data centre market.
“This agreement adds a key Asia-Pacific market to BDx’s expanding data centre portfolio,” said Braham Singh, CEO of BDx.
“Indonesia’s rapidly-growing and sustained demand for connectivity and cloud services continue to drive the need for data centre solutions, providing the next strategic step in BDx’s footprint.”
According to Mayank Srivastava, chief development officer of BDx, the partnership will fulfil a critical need for robust, world-class data centres in Indonesia,
The joint venture will focus on establishing a new “trailblazing” data centre and cloud-focused operation in Indonesia, aiming its services at multiple industries.
