The newly created infrastructure investment arm of Nordic fund manager Niam has hired Linus Hägg as chief investment officer.

Hägg joins Niam Infrastructure after spending 10 years at Swedish renewable energy firm Arise. He was most recently CFO at Arise and prior to that, lead the firm’s corporate finance team.

Hägg began his career in investment banking where he worked at various institutions including Danske Bank, Deutsche Bank and ABG Sundal Collier.

Sverker Åkerblom, founding partner and CEO of Niam Infrastructure, said: ”I have worked with Linus for a long time and his vast experience in developing, financing, and managing renewable projects makes him a perfect addition to the team.”

Hägg said the energy transition is only beginning, and it offers significant and sustainable infrastructure investment opportunities.

”With a shared vision, we look forward to seizing this potential and to support the transition.”

In August this year, Niam announced it was setting up an infrastructure investment platform to focus on sustainable infrastructure investments in the Nordic region and Northern Europe.

Niam, which had since 1998 offered institutional investors the opportunity to invest in Nordic properties, expanded its offering with the launched Niam Infrastructure.
