Greenman Group has expanded into Poland with the acquisition of Newbridge Poland, an asset manager and developer.

Greenman said Barbara Wojdełko, former managing partner at Newbridge will lead Newbridge which will be renamed Greenman Poland. Greenman Poland has €150m assets under management, comprising 87,000sqm of retail parks and shopping centres.

Johnnie Wilkinson, CEO of Greenman Group, said the acquisition is part of the firm’s European expansion plan.

Greenman Poland will be appointed as asset manager for Greenman European Supermarkets (GES), an investment fund that has already acquired three retail parks located in Namysłów, Grodzisk Mazowiecki and Włocławek, the company said.

“As well as securing the assets, we’ve also managed to partner with a team of extremely experienced convenience store real estate experts who add an important level of geographic diversity to our platform and investors in the funds,” Wilkinson said.

The open-ended GES fund was launched last year to own €500m worth of European supermarkets through sale-and-leaseback transactions. At the time Greenman said the GES fund can also acquire logistics and omni-channel grocery distribution assets across the EU.

Barbara Wojdełko, CEO of Greenman Poland, said: “This deal is the culmination of a strong period of growth at Newbridge. With the combination of the Greenman Group’s sector experience and our deep local knowledge we will deliver our shared growth strategy and are looking forward to expanding our assets under management in Poland and the broader Central Eastern European region with further acquisitions for the Greenman European Supermarket fund, as well as for other European funds and mandates.”
