Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) has added a wind farm project in Sweden to its global offshore wind development portfolio.

The renewable energy developer has invested an undisclosed amount to buy the rights for the Kattegatt Offshore Wind Farm from Agrivind.

The development stage project is anticipated to have an installed capacity of up to 260MW, GIG said. GIG has a global offshore wind development pipeline of 14GW.

Edward Northam, the head of GIG in the UK and Europe said: “The Kattegatt Wind Farm is set to be a key development for the Falkenberg municipality and for Sweden’s burgeoning offshore wind sector.

“Offshore wind can help Sweden meet its climate goals and diversify its electricity supply, while supporting jobs and creating economic opportunities.”

Wind Sweden will continue to support GIG in the development of Kattegatt.
