GLP’s Europe platform Gazeley has acquired a 25-acre site in the East of England for a 534,000sqft logistics warehouse development.
Gazeley has paid an undisclosed amount to buy the site near Bedford to develop the G-Park Bedford Wixams project of three warehouses in partnership with L&Q Estates.
G-Park Bedford Wixams is expected to be completed in the third quarter of the year.
Adrienne Howells, development director, Gazeley, said: “This acquisition and intention to develop speculatively further underlines and strengthens our position in the UK as we continue to expand our land-bank and development platform responding to the compelling demand for logistics and distribution space.
“As the unprecedented growth of e-commerce continues to drive warehouse demand, Gazeley is well-positioned to support these growth trends by offering both space and technology-led solutions to drive value for its customers.”
Gregg Wilkinson, group managing director at Warwick-based L&Q Estates, said: “The Wixams area is the largest single development in Bedfordshire and we believe this new scheme will be a great opportunity for new employers to become part of the town and its community.”
