Garbe has acquired a 16,000sqm newly built Dutch logistics facility in a sale-and-leaseback deal on behalf of a new core institutional investment mandate.

The asset manager has invested an unspecified sum to acquire the asset in Berkel en Rodenrijs, the Netherlands, leased back to Sluyter Logistics.

The transaction has provided the seed asset for Garbe’s new institutional core logistics mandate, which is targeting high-quality assets across the Netherlands and Germany, the manager said.

Louca Benders, senior investment manager at Garbe Netherlands, said: “With this transaction, we are making the first investment under a new institutional mandate for core logistics real estate in locations where accessibility, building quality and long-term value come together.”

Maurits Smit, managing director Garbe Netherlands, said: “We are pleased to have been able to realise this core acquisition in the current market. High-quality logistics real estate is scarce, as is core capital willing to commit to this type of product for the long term.

“This makes the acquisition a strong start to the new mandate and confirms our ambition to continue growing in the Netherlands and Germany with high-quality logistics real estate.”

Fred Westdijk, CEO of Sluyter Logistics, said: “We are proud of this partnership with Garbe and of the sustainable, future-proof logistics location we now operate from at Zeppelinstraat in Berkel en Rodenrijs.

“This facility is an important part of our growth strategy and enables us to serve our customers even more efficiently and sustainably. The central location, excellent accessibility and high sustainability standards of the building are fully aligned with our ambitions in terms of quality, innovation and responsible entrepreneurship.”
