Futureal Energy Partners has formed a partnership with Finnish developer Aurinkokarhu to co-develop a 3GW renewable energy pipeline in Finland.

The mid-stage portfolio comprises 1.86GW/7.42GWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity, 1.19GW of solar photovoltaic and integrated hybrid developments, with approximately 1.1GW targeted to reach ready-to-build status in 2026 and the remainder between 2027 and 2028.

The new partnership also includes a further early-stage development pipeline expected to exceed 800MW across Finland and Sweden.

The latest partnership builds on the two firms’ 2025 Tuovila BESS transaction, where Futureal Energy Partners provided development financing.

Daniel Szentirmai, co-founder and CEO of Futureal Energy Partners, said: “This partnership represents a major step forward in our Nordic growth strategy. Finland has rapidly emerged as one of Europe’s most attractive renewable energy and energy storage markets thanks to its strong grid fundamentals, growing flexibility needs and supportive market environment.

“Together with Aurinkokarhu, we are building a scalable platform that combines local development expertise with institutional capital and long-term strategic thinking.”

Andreas Renfält, co-founder and CEO of Aurinkokarhu, said: “Aurinkokarhu was founded to accelerate the development of high-quality renewable energy projects in Finland. Following the successful Tuovila transaction, we are excited to deepen our cooperation with Futureal Energy Partners.

“Their financial strength, transaction expertise and long-term strategic approach make them an ideal partner as we continue scaling our development activities across Finland and Sweden.”
