The UK investment arm of Fiera Real Estate has backed former directors at InfraRed Capital Partners to launch a new real estate investment business.

Fiera Real Estate UK (FRE UK) has become a minority shareholder in Harleyford Capital, a new company launched by Dean Harrison, Thomas Mallindine and Zayn Khamisa.

FRE UK’s backing gives Harleyford immediate access to capital via the recently launched Fiera Real Estate Logistics Development Fund UK fund. Harleyford is also expected to work with a small number of investment partners.

Fiera Real Estate said Harleyford aims to become a ”market-leading investment partner targeting well-located, ESG-focused and best-in-class assets backed by structural trends, science or technology (new economy real estate)”.

Harleyford is expected to initially focus on the logistics sector as it capitalises on “the recent market correction to access high-quality oversold income”.

Charles Allen, the head of UK Real Estate at FRE UK, said: “I am really excited to announce our investment into Harleyford Capital. The current market, whilst evolving, will expose numerous opportunities and I know the Harleyford Capital team has extensive experience and the skillset required to maximise on these. The market downturn represents an excellent opportunity to start a new business.”

Former InfraRed directors Harrison, Mallindine and Khamisa have over 25 years of combined experience managing discretionary capital at leading private equity and investment management businesses where they transacted over £2bn of pan-European real estate.

Mallindine, head of asset management at Harleyford Capital, said: “We believe that our discretionary fund management background and mindset gives us an edge when assessing and delivering investment opportunities, and we are hugely excited about providing a best-in-class service to FRE UK and our other investment partners.”

Harrison, head of investment at Harleyford Capital, said: “FRE UK bring immediate access to balance sheet capital and discretionary equity capital for logistics development, alongside a highly respected institutional framework and investment process.

“This creates the perfect opportunity for Harleyford Capital to hit the ground running at an interesting time within the market cycle.”
