Rahul Idnani, the former global COO for Nuveen Real Estate, has been appointed president of a newly launched private real estate business set up by Dream Unlimited.

Dream Unlimited said Jane Gavan, president of its asset management arm – which includes the firm’s public and private management business – will become the executive chair of the newly launched Dream Equity Partners and will have oversight of the new business.

Dream Unlimited has in the past explored private capital opportunistically but Dream Equity Partners marks the firm’s dedicated business and efforts for private real estate.

“Through the launch of Dream Equity Partners, we intend to leverage our core competencies in managing and developing office, multi-family, industrial and mixed-use assets in Canada, the US and Europe focused on core, core-plus and value-add investments,” the company said.

“I am very pleased to expand our asset management business focus, to investing private capital in real estate. Rahul is a great addition to our team with his deep knowledge of the business and his global relationships,” Gavan said.

“I am very excited to join Dream and collaborate with their management team to leverage their expertise to provide private real estate offerings and solutions to clients,” Idnani said.

Prior to joining Nuveen Real Estate in January 2017, Idnani held senior leadership positions at US institutional investor TIAA where he worked for over three years.
