Danish pension fund PenSam has acquired an additional 200 apartments in Copenhagen from Alma Property Partners and AG Gruppen.
PenSam has invested an unspecified amount to acquire the Smedekær residential property in Albertslund, marking the first completed project in the transformation of Hersted Industripark into a new mixed-use district.
The deal also represents PenSam’s second recent acquisition from Alma Property Partners and AG Gruppen, following the sale of the Lyskilden project in Herlev to the pension fund this year.
Jeppe Starup, head of private capital and real assets at PenSam, said: “Smedekær is not just an investment in bricks and mortar, but in the urban life of the future. The project combines high quality with a strong sustainability profile and an attractive location. The development complements PenSam’s property portfolio and aligns with our goal of strengthening our portfolio with high-quality properties in strategic locations, across both residential and commercial sectors.
“The property’s long-term potential contributes both to a positive local development and to our goal of delivering stable and attractive returns to our 500,000 pension members. We thank Alma and AG Gruppen for a smooth and professional process.”
Bjarke Windeløv Graae, CEO of AG Gruppen, said: “From the start, Smedekær has been a project with high ambitions - both in terms of architecture, quality, and especially as the first completed project in the broader transformation of Hersted Industripark.
“We are proud to have delivered this project in partnership with Alma Property Partners and are pleased that PenSam has chosen to invest in the project.”
Hüseyin Meric, partner at Alma Property Partners, said: “Smedekær is yet another strong outcome of our collaboration with AG Gruppen. The project has been built to a high standard, and significant thought has gone into creating the right balance between functionality, aesthetics, and tenant needs. We are very pleased with the result and see the sale to PenSam as a confirmation of the project’s attractiveness and strength.”
