CBRE Global Investors has partnered with the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for environmental, social, and governance (ESG).

CBRE Global Investors said it will work alongside the cross-party group to facilitate impartial discussions and to deepen parliamentarians’ engagement with investors and the industry on key matters concerning the dynamic between British businesses’ operations and strategies and ESG concerns.

As a founding sponsor of the APPG, CBRE Global Investors will contribute to the discussion to “build a comprehensive list of ideas to be put forward to the government, ahead of UK policy and legislation being developed”.

Robbie Epsom, EMEA head of ESG at CBRE Global Investors, said the partnership is in line with the firm’s “Influence pillar from our Sustainability Vision – the core principles that guide our ESG strategy – that we launched earlier this year”.

“As well as considering ESG principles in business decisions, we aim to maximise our positive impact through careful reporting and targeted partnerships, such as this.

“We are excited to have this opportunity to contribute to the government’s ESG policy agenda, and to help encourage UK companies to embed ESG considerations into their business strategies, leading to a more sustainable future,” Epsom said.

Alexander Stafford, chairman of the APPG on ESG, said: “I founded this APPG because ESG is a hot button issue in business and commerce which can no longer be ignored.

“One of our key objectives is to push for clear and definitive parameters for businesses to practise ESG, something I know CBRE Global Investors is equally invested in.

“The financial services sector has made impressive progress in the implementation and measurement of ESG in recent years, and I’m delighted to have the CBRE Global Investors team’s ESG expertise as part of our group.”
