Castello SGR has acquired the Calampiso Resort in Sicily through its Hospitality Italian Infrastructure Platform (HIIP) as part of a €100m redevelopment project to create a new ultra-luxury destination.

The Italian manager said the 150,000sqm complex, comprising over 250 rooms and apartments, will undergo an extensive internal and external redevelopment to reposition it within the ultra-luxury segment.

The project, delivered in partnership with a “leading international hotel brand”, is scheduled to open to the public in 2029.

The deal, which marks Castello’s entry into Sicily, follows previous HIIP acquisitions in Pognana Lario, Como and Dolonne, Courmayeur.

Giampiero Schiavo, CEO and general manager of Castello SGR, said: “This deal fits perfectly into the development strategy of the HIIP platform. With Calampiso, we aim to breathe new life into a unique structure, preserving its natural beauty and enhancing its value both through excellent services and collaboration with a high-quality hotel partner.

“With this transaction, we aim to create value not only for investors, but also for the area and local communities, thus helping to support the touristic calling of Sicily.”
