The €13bn Bouwinvest Real Estate Investors has invested an undisclosed sum to buy a care complex in Nieuwegein in the Netherlands on behalf of its healthcare fund from Kuifmees.

Bouwinvest said the former office building, which is being converted into a care home for people with dementia, will be operated by ZorgSpectrum on a long-term lease. The complex will provide 76 care units.

Erwin Drenth, a director responsible for Bouwinvest’s Dutch healthcare investments, said: “This acquisition aligns perfectly with our goal to expand our presence in the care home segment. We are very pleased to add this property to our portfolio for ZorgSpectrum.”
