BGO’s direct real estate secondaries and co-investments arm has teamed up with Orka Investments to launch a UK student housing venture targeting a portfolio of more than £100m (€119m).

BGO Strategic Capital Partners (SCP) said it has recapitalised a portfolio of two purpose-built student accommodation assets that will serve as the seed investments for the newly created platform.

The two properties in Manchester and Derby have a combined total of 568 beds.

Cherine Aboulzelof, managing director and head of BGO SCP, said: “The UK student housing sector remains one of the most compelling living strategies in Europe, supported by strong fundamentals and deep institutional demand.

“We are pleased to partner with Orka Investments on this transaction, which reinforces our focus on high-quality, purpose-built student accommodation assets in attractive university markets.”

Raoul Malhotra, managing partner at Orka Investments, said: “We are excited to expand our partnership with BGO SCP on this [general partner-led] recapitalisation. Both assets present strong growth potential, and we look forward to building a successful partnership.”
