Arcus Infrastructure Partners-backed vessel operator Abyss is expanding its salmon farming service offerings in Norway with the acquisition of Frøy Akvaservice.
Abyss has agreed to acquire Frøy Akvaservice for an undisclosed sum, in a carve-out transaction from Frøy Group.
Frøy Akvaservice operates 33 vessels used to support the Norwegian salmon industry, offering key services such as towing, maintenance, wellboat support, net cleaning and installation work along the coast.
Abyss, which was acquired by the Arcus European Infrastructure Fund 3 fund earlier this year, is a service vessel provider for the salmon farming industry in Norway and Iceland.
Following the deal, Abyss will operate a combined fleet of 56 service vessels and four inspection vessels.
Michael Allen, partner and head of transport at Arcus, said: “This acquisition marks a transformative milestone for Abyss. By combining the complementary fleets, expertise, and operational strengths, we are unlocking powerful synergies that will drive efficiency, innovation, and sustainable growth across the North Atlantic region.
“We look forward to working with the Abyss and Frøy Akvaservice’s teams to build on their strong legacies and accelerate our shared vision for long-term value creation in the aquaculture sector.”
Victor Jensen, CEO of Abyss, said: “This is a pivotal moment for Abyss Group and a testament to the long-term vision we share with Arcus. The acquisition of Frøy Akvaservice significantly enhances our capacity and flexibility, allowing us to deliver even greater value to our customers, employees and the communities we serve.
“By combining our strengths, we are better positioned to meet growing industry demand with high-quality, reliable services across the North Atlantic region.”
