Opdenergy has acquired a 440MW Spanish wind portfolio from Acciona Energía in a deal valued at over €500m.

The Antin Infrastructure Partners-owned independent renewable energy producer said it has acquired the portfolio of 13 wind farms located in Albacete, Cádiz, Cuenca, Lleida, Valencia and Zamora.

The transaction also includes a portfolio of solar photovoltaic projects under development of up to 351MWp, with potential for hybridisation with the wind farms included in the transaction, Opdenergy said.

The latest acquisition lifts Opdenergy’s operating capacity to 2.4GW, with 80% of its assets in Europe and the US, the company said, adding that over 75% of its revenues are secured through long-term power purchase agreements.

Luis Cid, CEO of Opdenergy, said: ”With this transaction, we are integrating a portfolio of high-quality wind assets with a proven operating track record and potential for future optimisation, strengthening our platform as a long-term independent operator.

“This transaction strengthens our multi-technology strategy as an independent power producer and accelerates our business plan.”

Tobías Martínez, chairman of the board of Opdenergy, said: “This acquisition strengthens our sustainable growth model by adding wind assets in Spain that provide operational strength, financial stability, and advance our commitment to the energy transition.”
