Rob Hattersley, chief investment officer of AMP Capital’s real estate division, has joined Melbourne-based non-bank lender MaxCap, in an expanded role as group head of capital.

The new appointment is the culmination of six months of restructuring of MaxCap’s capital markets team, said Wayne Lasky, MaxCap’s founder and executive chairman.

“Rob will play a pivotal role in executing and enhancing our capital strategy, leading our high-performance capital-raising team and delivering best-in-class service to local and global investors alike,” Lasky said.

He added: “There is no finer capital-raising executive in Australia, and we look forward to joining forces to deliver superior returns for our investment partners.”

Lasky said Hattersley would be responsible for raising capital for separate accounts, funds and deal-by-deal syndicates.

A year ago AMP Capital created the role of chief investment officer of its real estate to raise capital and work with its origination team to raise capital for new products. However, since then AMP Capital has lost the management of its real estate funds.

Hattersley, a 30-year-plus veteran of capital raising, was with Lendlease for 21 years. He was a director of the Lendlease real estate investment trustee board for over 10 years. Before that, he worked for Mirvac for more than a decade as a director of investments.
