Alpha Real Capital has invested £90m (€102m) in three separate UK wind energy deals.

The secure income-focused real assets manager acquired a 27.45MWp onshore wind portfolio of 10 turbines located in Fife, County Durham and Bedfordshire from the Capital Dynamics Clean Energy and Infrastructure III (CEI III) fund and also bought a 9.2MWp onshore wind portfolio of 14 turbines located in Cumbria from EIS funds.

The third deal was the acquisition of a 0.5MWp single turbine site located in Leicestershire from private owners, Alpha Real Capital said, adding that all the transactions were completed in December by its funds.

Will Morgan, the head of renewable infrastructure, Alpha Real Capital said the latest acquisitions complete the £180m capital deployment into the manager’s Wind Renewables Income Fund for UK institutional investors and take cumulative investment over £900m to date.

Boris Mikhailov, the head of client solutions, Alpha Real Capital said: “Renewable energy as an asset class provides several attractions for investors. In addition to diversification benefits, it can provide an attractive steady income and solid total returns, as well as a high level of inflation protection.

“Demand from investors for renewable assets is increasing dramatically and Alpha is well positioned to facilitate such investment requirements for our growing institutional client base.”

Phillip Rose, CEO of Alpha Real Capital said: “We have invested steadily in our renewable infrastructure team since 2013, adding scale and depth to our capabilities.

”Our cumulative experience in the sector now amounts to over 100 years of infrastructure investment management, over £3bn of acquisitions, and more than 3GW of low carbon generation with extensive experience in both UK and European markets.”
