Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) has closed its global diversified infrastructure equity fund at €1bn, following an initial €550m raise in May 2022.
The Allianz Global Diversified Infrastructure Equity Fund II (AGDIEF II) – managed by Allianz Capital Partners (ACP) – makes equity investments jointly with Allianz in a diversified global portfolio of core, core-plus and selectively value-add infrastructure investments through primary commitments to infrastructure funds, secondary transactions and co-investments.
AllianzGI said AGDIEF II, launched in the fourth quarter of 2021, has already committed around 60% of its capital, adding that the launch of a successor strategy is planned for 2024. The predecessor fund, the Allianz Global Diversified Infrastructure Equity Fund, raised over €1bn in 2020.
Emmanuel Deblanc, global head of private markets at Allianz Global Investors, said: “Despite the current challenging market environment, we have been able to attract many clients, of which a large part had already invested in the predecessor, Allianz Global Diversified Infrastructure Equity Fund.
“We are very grateful for the trust of our new and existing clients for their continued support which underpins our strong positioning in private markets and the capability to deliver.”
Yves Meyer-Bülow, head of infrastructure funds and co-investments at Allianz Capital Partners, said: “The launch of AGDIEF coincided with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and AGDIEF II was raised at a time of accelerating interest rates and war in Europe.
“The resilient performance of our AGDIEF series to date reflects the combination of global diversified investment portfolios, underlying infrastructure assets that generally provide essential services and a focus on sustainability.”
