Japanese financial institution SBI Shinsei Bank has entered Europe’s digital infrastructure market by appointing AEW to set up a telecommunications infrastructure debt fund.
AEW said it has been mandated by SBI Shinsei Bank to launch the SS Capital Digital Debt Fund to mainly invest in telecoms projects focusing on high-speed fibre networks, towers and data centres.
SS Capital Digital Debt will be managed by the private debt platform of AEW in Europe.
Jonathan Stevens, the head of private debt at AEW Europe, said: “The launch of the SS Capital Digital Debt Fund will bring new investment into Europe to support the development of digital infrastructure across the region. I look forward to working with SBI Shinsei Bank and to providing this leading Japanese financial player with our international and comprehensive expertise in the private debt field.
“Our latest fund launch also signals AEW’s ambition to grow this business globally, providing Asian investors access to European investment products which meet their income, capital efficiency and strong relative value requirements.”
