GLOBAL - Jan Meulenbelt has been announced as the replacement for Nick Cooper, who is leaving as global head of ING Real Estate Select - the global multi-manager business he helped established.

Meulenbelt will succeed Cooper as global head of the business on 1 January 2010, subject to approval from the UK's Financial Services Authority and the Dutch market regulator AFM.

Cooper resigned following the decision by ING Real Estate Investment Management (ING REIM) to relocate the multi-manager business' headquarters from the UK to the Netherlands.

Meulenbelt joined ING Real Estate Select in 2006 to help build the business in Europe and was also part of the ING Real Estate Select European Investment Committee.

He previously worked for ING Investment Management to develop structured bank and insurance guarantee funds for institutional investors.

"With Jan Meulenbelt's experience and team leadership, I am convinced that we can continue to offer clients investment performance with central advice and allocation to the different global regions," said Pieter Hendrikse, chief executive of ING REIM Europe.

"He will lead the enhancement of client services with regional and local specialists in the different investment areas, with central support and reporting.

Meulenbelt added: "Our job is to strengthen the ongoing focus on servicing UK, European and global clients with investments in our well-performing fund of funds and managed accounts, regionally and globally."
