EUROPE - Erik Sonden, the former head of European real estate investment banking at Deutsche Bank who co-founded Fountain Capital partners in 2002, has joined Société Générale.

Sonden told IPE Real Estate: "I joined Société Générale on November 2 2005 as managing director and head of European real estate coverage and advisory, which is a newly created function." He joins a 12-strong team based in Paris.

He added: "My mandate, which is European, comprises the coverage function with respect to the real estate investor universe to which the bank's whole range of services in the debt- and equity capital markets will be marketed and M&A/advisory (including origination and execution)."

He will report to Bertrand Descours, global head of real estate finance and Jacques Bitton, global head of M&A.

Before Deutsche Sonden was European Director and head of the capital markets department in Paris at Jones Lang LaSalle. He was a founding partner of property investment management firm Fountain alongside Robert Campbell and David Rendall.

Sonden said: "Société Générale already has a strong real estate track record and this new function underlines its commitment to the real estate sector."
