REAL ESTATE - CB Richard Ellis Investors has named Steven Bass, formerly CEO of Macquarie Properties Japan and previously Director of Acquisitions at CB Richard Ellis Investors Japan, has re-joined the firm as managing director based in Tokyo.

It said: "Mr. Bass is a 15-year veteran of commercial real estate with experience in real estate acquisitions, investment banking and research. He has spent the past nine years in the Japanese real estate market and has led the acquisition of individual properties, complex portfolios and distressed real estate companies." Bass will be responsible for the firm's Japan investments.

"We are pleased to have Steve return to lead the firm's Japan operations following our very positive relationship with him as a former executive," said CBRE Investors' president Robert Zerbst.

Asia head Mark Karlan added: "Steve's extensive experience in Japanese property investments and strong relationships with industry participants make him well qualified to deliver value to our investors."

Bass studied economics at Gakushuin University in Japan on a scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Education and is fluent in written and spoken Japanese.

CB Richard Ellis Investors has more than $21bn in assets under management.
