EUROPE - Ärzteversorgung Westfalen-Lippe (AeVWL) was crowned Best European Institutional Investor last night at a glittering event in Amsterdam to celebrate this year's IPE Real Estate Awards 2010.

It was the second year in a row the German pension won the platinum award. AeVWL also picked up three gold awards on the night: Best Large European Institutional Investor, Best Direct Investment, and Best Core Investment.

The platinum award for Outstanding Industry Contribution went to the initiative set up jointly by APG, PGGM and Universities Superannuation Scheme, in conjunction with Maastricht University, to establish a global environmental benchmark for the property sector.

Danish pension fund Finanssektorens Pensionskasse (FSP) won the gold award for Best Medium Institutional Investor, while Belgium's Pensioenfonds KBC and France's ERAFP also won gold awards for Best Small Institutional Investor and Best Newcomer 2010, respectively.

ATP, the giant Danish pension fund, also won a total of four silver awards as Best Portfolio Construction, Best Opportunistic Investment, Best Private Equity and Best Value-added Investment.
