EUROPE - Ärzteversorgung Westfalen-Lippe was crowned Best European Institutional Investor last night at a glittering event in Amsterdam to celebrate this year's IPE Real Estate Awards 2009.

The German pension fund picked up three awards in total as along with the platinum title it also won a gold award as Best Large European institutional investor and a silver award as Best Investor in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Andrea Carpenter, director of research and market information at INREV, the European Association for Investors in Non-listed Real Estate Vehicles, was also presented with a platinum award for Outstanding Industry Contribution to the real estate sector - an award voted for IPE Real Estate readers.

West Midlands Pension Fund was rewarded the work conducted to manage its real estate portfolio with both a gold award as Best Medium Institutional Investor and a Silver Award as Best Investor in the UK and Ireland.

ATP, the giant Danish pension fund, also won two silver awards as Best Institutional Investor in the Nordics and Best Opportunistic Investment, while Gothaer also won two silver titles as Best Innovation and Best Portfolio Construction.
