AMP Capital is investing in a portfolio of US and Canadian thermal power generation assets via a debt deal.

The investment manager said it closed a $200m (€176m) subordinated debt investment in Invenergy Clean Power.

The loan is secured by a portfolio of Invenergy natural gas-fired power plants in the US and Canada.

Invenergy develops, owns and operates power generation and energy storage facilities in North America and Europe.

AMP Capital’s Infrastructure Debt Fund II (IDF II) will provide $150m of the loan, with the remaining $50m warehoused by AMP Capital for future strategies.

The deal is AMP Capital’s second with Invenergy.
