After the exhibitions group was compelled to cancel Mipim 2020, when attempts to reschedule the March conference to June fell though, it has been working on a new programme of events built around Propel by Mipim, its annual proptech conference.

Formerly known as Mipim Proptech Europe, this innovation-focused fair has been held during the summer in Paris for the last two years. Last year, it attracted some 2,000 delegates at alternative events space Le Centquatre, which will once again be the designated venue for the expanded programme.

Reed Midem said that Paris Real Estate Week, scheduled to take place from 14 to 17 September, would be the 'first event enabling real estate leaders to make an initial assessment of the Covid-19 impact on the industry and discuss future prospects'.

A day of conferences, the Mipim Urban Forum, will be dedicated to the themes of cities and the urban environment on Wednesday, 16 September. Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will give the inaugural speech.

While the week is being built around Propel, taking place on 14 and 15 September, it will combine events organised by the wider Mipim community, clients and partners. The Mipim Connect digital platform will continue to operate in parallel, organisers said.

Companies that have already confirmed their presence at Propel include JLL, Schneider Electric, Prologis, PI Labs, Keys AM, Saint Gobain, Arcelor Mittal and Metaprop.

'Propel by Mipim is bringing together all stakeholders in the fields of property and the urban environment to promote the use of technology (and other) innovations that will enable us to work towards what is best, most useful, and most desirable, as we search for a compromise between public and private, individual and collective interests,' said Nicolas Kozubek, director of Propel.

Key themes for this year's Propel include data, sustainable development, talent, investing in innovation, and the user experience. It will also host the new edition of the Mipim-affiliated startup competition, and the finals of the PropTech Startup Europe Awards, backed by the European Commission and organised by the Finnova Foundation.

'Paris Real Estate Week is designed to support the property sector during the current global upheaval. We look forward to welcoming leaders in innovation and real estate to this event next September. We continue to work on the operational elements required to ensure the safest environment possible for all delegates,' said Ronan Vaspart, Director of Mipim.
