The KPN subsidiary NLDC operates a portfolio of six data centres, three of which are in the Amsterdam area, with regional sites located in Eindhoven, Rotterdam and Groningen.

According to the firm, it is the largest Dutch provider of colocation and connectivity services.

Rotterdam-based KPN said it was selling the business 'to accelerate simplification and focus on core ICT services in business'. According to the parent company, the proceeds of the transaction will be retained 'to increase operational and financial flexibility'.

Under the agreement, NLDC will continue to deliver data centre services to KPN as a preferred supplier.

The telecoms operator's data centre business was spun off into the separate unit NLDC early in 2017.

The deal is subject to regulatory approval.
