Barings has appointed Kristina Arsenievich as ESG director to enhance the firm’s activities across its equity and debt portfolios in Europe.
The former senior sustainability manager at Canary Wharf Group will continue to work in London and report to James Salmon, head of European real estate asset management.
She will lead the firm’s ESG strategy for European Real Estate and launch carbon neutral and climate resilience policies.
Salmon said: ‘The real estate industry is going through a transformative period, with its impact on our environment and wider society under greater scrutiny than ever before.’
He said Barings had been developing its ESG strategy corporately and for its investment strategy for some time, but Arsenievich would take the integration of this strategy ‘to the next level’ in Europe.
