In Australia infrastructure investing for superannuation (pension) funds, which are almost entirely DC, followed the model of investment in open-ended property funds. It has proven to be a very successful model with much better alignment for long-term investors than a North American private equity model in which, for infrastructure, there has tended to be a greater focus on financial engineering.
