BaringsGuillaume Bieganski has been promoted to lead the firm’s business in France. Having initially joined Barings in February 2018 as a director with responsibility for acquisitions and asset management strategies, Bieganski takes the position of head of France following the promotion of previous country lead, Séverine Maumy-Laffineur, as co-portfolio manager of Barings’ European Core Property Fund. Before joining Barings in France four years ago, Bieganski worked for Abenex where he oversaw the launch and development of the private equity company’s real estate activity. He has also held responsibility for asset management and acquisitions in Central and Eastern Europe for Standard Life Investments, as well as having worked with DTZ Investors, Bouygues Immobilier and BNP Paribas.

Actis – The global investor in sustainable infrastructure has appointed Neda Vakilian as managing director of global relationships within its investor development group. Vakilian is based in London and will be responsible for the coordination and management of strategic investor initiatives, fundraising project management, and product development for Actis. During her 17-year career, Vakilian has worked across private capital markets, business development, and fundraising. Before joining Actis, Vakilian was co-head of capital solutions and investor relations for Amber Infrastructure. Prior to this, Vakilian worked at Macquarie Capital and the Green Investment Group.  She began her career as a solicitor, working at Clifford Chance and SJ Berwin in the private equity, fund formation teams. 

Savills Investment Management – The international real estate investment manager has hired Johan Bark as head of capital raising, Nordics. Based in Stockholm, he will report to Giuseppe Oriani, co-head, client capital EMEA. With over 15 years of industry experience, Bark joins Savills IM from BlackRock, where he spent 11 years in various roles. At BlackRock, Johan’s focus was on institutional, family offices, wealth management, and distribution clients, covering a broad set of strategies ranging from long-only to alternatives. Bark was also previously head of distribution for liquid alternatives in the Nordics. Bark has also spent five years at Swedbank in various roles, where his most recent position was lead of manager selection for the banks model portfolio team.

RedevcoChris Fleetwood has is joining the European real estate investment manager’s UK business as portfolio director. He will be reporting to recently appointed co-head client and fund management Thierry Cahierre, who will also continue to lead the global asset and development management function. Fleetwood will succeed Andrew Foulds who has been with Redevco for more than 10 years and has been working an extended notice period to create continuity for the UK team, after having decided mid-2021 to pursue his career elsewhere. Foulds joined Redevco in 2011 as portfolio director. Fleetwood joins from Landsec where he was Development Director.

Link REITGreg Chubb has joined the firm as chief operating officer – international. He will lead and oversee Link REIT’s asset management, leasing and corporate functions, as well as its operational setup in Australia, the UK and locations across Asia, excluding Mainland China and Hong Kong. Chubb joins from Charter Hall, where he is currently retail CEO and an executive director of Charter Hall Retail REIT. Prior to Charter Hall he held various leadership roles in Australia at Coles Supermarkets, Mirvac and LendLease, and was based in Hong Kong with JLL between 2009 and 2010. 

Goodstone Living – Macquarie Asset Management’s new UK build-to-rent platform has appointed former Cushman & Wakefield associate director George Jolliffe as acquisition manager. Jolliffe has almost a decade of experience in the residential real estate sector, having previously held roles at Cushman & Wakefield, Savills and NRE UK. Joliffe will be responsible for identifying and acquiring BTR opportunities as Goodstone Living seeks to develop the next generation of residential communities across the UK.

CorestateMartin Eberhardt has been appointed to take on the newly-created position of CIO DACH at Corestate. Based in Frankfurt, Eberhardt will manage the funds, asset and investment management and development business sectors. The longtime CEO of the Corestate subsidiary STAM Europe, Edward Bates, will complete the management team of the real estate equity division as the new CIO International with responsibility for the European business. Eberhardt has years of leadership experience in advising institutional real estate investors at, among others, Union Investment, Bouwfonds and Swiss Life. He was also chairman of the management board at RICS Deutschland and a member of the executive committee of the German Property Federation. Bates also has extensive experience in the international real estate sector, having previously held positions as senior principal and co-head of real estate at Doughty Hanson & Co and investment director at Orion Capital Managers.

Morrison & Co – The global infrastructure investor has appointed Kate Mingay as a non-executive director as the firm looks to grow its presence in the UK and Europe. Mingay currently holds advisory roles with Ofgem and CAA, the respective UK energy and airport economic regulators and is an independent non-executive director for Wessex Water and a trustee of the British Science Association. Mingay previously worked in executive director roles for UBS and Goldman Sachs earlier in her career, leading the UK financing teams.

CBRE Investment ManagementDominic Smith has joined the firm’s UK research team as senior director, credit research. He will specialise in global credit research, including helping to drive forward CBRE Investment Management’s real assets credit convictions framework, a proprietary tool designed to provide a clear way of measuring risks and opportunities within real estate credit. Smith joins CBRE Investment Management from CBRE, where he was initially focused on setting up the debt analytics service, before moving to the UK research team. He brings with him 20 years of commercial real estate experience, having previously spent time as strategy director of the real estate business support unit of Lloyds Bank, and as head of research at Aviva Investors.

JLL – The professional services firm has appointed Gang Hu as managing director in its EMEA loan advisory and restructuring services team to enhance its advisory capabilities and drive forward the loan portfolio advisory business across the region. He joins JLL from Alantra’s credit portfolio advisory. Prior to Alantra, Gang held senior positions in the credit portfolio advisory teams at KPMG and EY.

Knight Frank – The global real estate advisor has appointed Mike Voller as a partner in its London office leasing team. Voller will work closely with Knight Frank’s landlord clients to advise them in relation to development, marketing and leasing, as demand for best-in-class, sustainable workspaces continues to fuel activity in the London office market. Voller is re-joining Knight Frank after six years at leading boutique London property consultancy Spring4, where he specialised in advising corporate occupiers on a broad range of transactions, including lease acquisitions, re-gears, purchases and lettings.

CBRE – The commercial real estate services and investment firm has appointed Crystal Palar as an executive managing director, capital markets and Andrew Hunter as global capital director. Both roles are based in Singapore. Palar will work with Greg Hyland, head of capital markets, Asia Pacific, to provide strategic direction and facilitate cross-border capital flows with CBRE’s in-country teams across the region. Hunter will advise investors in Singapore and Southeast Asia on the execution of global investment and development strategies.

Kajima – The pan-European real assets company has appointed Jan Trybulski as investment director and head of the newly opened office in Warsaw,  Poland. Trybulski will be working closely with Kajima’s existing logistics, living and renewables teams to support current operations and drive the expansion of the company’s project pipeline in central Europe. Trybulski joins from Griffin Capital Partners, Kajima’s JV partner in the renewables sector and the purpose-built student accommodation sector. Prior to Griffin, Trybulski worked in banking.

Addleshaw Goddard – The international law firm has appointed Daniel Sweeney as partner to join its retail and consumer and real estate teams. Sweeney, the former TLT deputy head of retail, joins the Manchester team. His practice at TLT focused on launching the firm’s Manchester office in 2013 and leading a 130-person team. His work involved advising and acting as client-relationship lead for some of the UK’s largest retailers.

GPT GroupChris Davis has been appointed to a newly created role as head of logistics at GPT Group. Davis will lead GPT’s integrated logistics team, including the GPT QuadReal Logistics partnership. GPT has also promoted Martin Ritchie to head of office. Ritchie will lead the group’s direct investments in the office sector, while retaining oversight of the GPT Wholesale Office Fund. Chris Barnett will continue in his role as GPT’s head of retail and mixed-use, but will have an expanded role in overseeing the GPT Wholesale Shopping Centre Fund. Under the new organisational structure, three long-serving executives, Matthew Faddy, Nicholas Harris and James Coyne, have left the company.

Cabot Properties – The logistics real estate manager has promoted Hobey Stuart, Carey Herrlinger and Nicholas Snow to managing director. Stuart, who joined Cabot in 2007, was also named as the firm’s CFO, a position formerly held by Mark Bechard, the firm’s president and COO. Prior to assuming these responsibilities, Stuart served as a director in Cabot’s finance department, and before that was a member of the firm’s asset management team. As MD of investments, Midwest, Herrlinger oversees Cabot’s investment activity in the region. He joined the firm more than 10 years ago as an investment analyst for the Midwest. Snow’s career started with Cabot’s internship programme before joining the firm’s Investment team in 2014. Since that time, he has helped to formulate, communicate and grow Cabot’s Core investment strategy and led the initiative to launch the firm’s separate account program in 2018. Snow now leads Cabot’s investor relations team and is responsible for capital raising, business development, and strategic initiatives.

Deepki – The real estate ESG data firm has appointed Svenja Eisner to head its newly launched German arm. Eisner previously held senior roles at WeWork and rent24.

GecinaAntoine Cadré has joined the French real estate investment trust as director of risk management, while Sophie Sicourmat Ethève has been appointed director of internal audit. They will be members of the management committee. Cadré began his career in 2012 with HSBC’s global banking and markets unit, where he was operational risks and internal controller. He then moved to Deloitte Conseil as a senior consultant. He later joined Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield in 2017 and was appointed risk and internal audit manager, before being promoted to head of risk management Europe in November 2018. Ethève started her career in 2002 as a financial auditor with Mazars, she was an internal auditor at La Française des Jeux from 2006 to 2011. She later spent 10 years with the French transport regulatory authority ART, serving as audit department manager then deputy director of financial affairs. She joined Gecina in November 2021 as its audit mission manager.

HSBC HoldingsChristian Deseglise has been appointed group head of sustainable infrastructure and innovation. Deseglise has held a number of leadership positions at HSBC and was previously head of sustainable finance and investments in global banking and markets. He is also an adjunct professor at Columbia University, and a member of president Macron’s One Planet Lab. In his new role, Deseglise will focus on catalysing sustainable infrastructure solutions, developing innovative ventures in support of the bank’s $1trn commitment to the net zero transition. He helped launch the FAST-Infra Sustainable Infrastructure Label at COP26 – a consistent, globally applicable labelling system designed to identify and evaluate sustainable infrastructure assets. 

Hollis – The real estate consultancy firm has appointed Sander van der Werf as director, Daniel Ferrao as an associate and Duncan Ainslie as a junior building surveyor in Amsterdam. Van der Werf will be responsible for project management. Most recently, he spent over five years in the role of development director at real estate developer Greystar, having previously worked as tender manager for development and construction firms VolkerWessels and Ballast Nedam. Ferrao joins the firm’s cost management team from global business consultancy Turner & Townsend where he spent seven years building invaluable experience in senior cost management roles in the UK followed by the Netherlands. Ainslie He spent the past four and a half years working with Historic Environment Scotland in the estates team of the Conservation Directorate.

Cromwell PropertyPeta Tilse has been appointed head of retail funds. In this new role, Tilse will be responsible for continuing to grow Cromwell’s retail funds management business and its funds under management across Australia. She has more than 25 years of experience in both the retail and wholesale markets, most recently conducting asset consulting and investment advisory work for Australian clients of global firm, Research IP.

KanAm GrundRobin Carr has joined the real estate firm as the new associate director/head of UK for the asset management Europe division. Carr is responsible for the operational and strategic asset management of KanAm Grund’s properties in the UK. He will also head KanAm Grund’s newly opened branch office in London. Over the past 20 years Carr has worked inter alia for Aerium Finance and CBRE. Denise Turner heads the new Dublin branch office as associate director/head of Ireland in the asset management Europe division. In Dublin, she is responsible for the strategic and operational asset management of the Irish portfolio of KanAm Grund. Turner started working at KanAm Grund Group in 2020. She has worked in the real estate sector for more than 25 years, and before joining KanAm Grund she was a director of Savills in the investment transaction, valuation, asset management and rent review divisions. She also worked as an advisor and property specialist at Allied Irish Bank and Bank of Ireland.

Ellandi – The specialist retail and town centre asset manager has appointed David Payling COO. Payling joined Ellandi in May 2021 as interim head of finance. He brings a proven track record as a highly experienced chartered accountant in senior roles at Deloitte, as well as deputy CEO and CFO of a social enterprise microfinance business in Zambia. Most recently Payling spent over four years at FTSE 250 wealth manager Brewin Dolphin.
