The infrastructure investment arm of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) has promoted Alastair Hall to head its European business.

OMERS Infrastructure has appointed Hall as senior managing director to replace former European head Philippe Busslinger who is reportedly joining Wren House Infrastructure Management as CEO.

Hall, who served as global head of investment strategy and partnerships at OMERS Infrastructure and will retain oversight of the strategic partnership programme until his replacement is named, the manager said.

Hall joined OMERS Infrastructure in 2014. He was previously responsible for investing across the European energy, utilities and renewables value chain.

Prior to joining OMERS Infrastructure, he worked in investment banking at Deutsche Bank and Bank of America Merrill Lynch advising clients on European utilities and infrastructure transactions.

Annesley Wallace, the executive vice president and global head of infrastructure for OMERS Infrastructure, said Hall is positioned to drive growth for OMERS Infrastructure as the firm seeks to ”deploy significant amounts of capital” and grow its assets under management in the region.

“Since joining OMERS, Alastair has made numerous contributions to support the expansion of the European team and the advancement of our global strategy which is to take an active approach to generate growth and value over the long term.”
