Former LPP investment director Ord heads L&G infrastructure equity

Jonathan Ord, the former investment director at Local Pensions Partnership (LPP), has joined the infrastructure business within Legal & General’s real assets division.

LGIM Real Assets (RA) said Ord has joined in the newly created role as head of infrastructure equity to lead investment strategy, as it “continues to expand its platform capabilities”.

At LPP, Ord helped establish both its own infrastructure programme and the investment platform GLIL Infrastructure. In addition to leading and executing transactions, Ord also had responsibility for the asset management of infrastructure investments.

Bill Hughes, the head of LGIM Real Assets, said: “His [Ord’s] appointment will further bolster our investment capabilities in infrastructure, demonstrating our commitment to expanding our platform so we can deliver a full spectrum of real estate and infrastructure products to clients.”

Tom Sumpster, the head of infrastructure finance, said: “We are delighted that Jonathan is joining to expand our infrastructure investment origination capability into equity, providing LGIM RA clients with a greater product offering.

“As with our infrastructure debt investments, Jonathan will lead an investment strategy that focuses on environmentally and socially responsible assets that deliver attractive returns for our clients.”

LGIM RA manages around £28.1bn (€31.54bn) across real estate, infrastructure and corporate debt. Since its debut infrastructure deal in 2012, LGIM RA has invested in all key social and economic infrastructure sectors, managing £3.0bn of assets in the UK, across Europe and the US.
